KEDbluestone is a full-service MEP/T engineering firm delivering high-quality, practical design solutions to institutional, commercial, and specialty venue clients across the country. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Indianapolis. This is an in-person, office-based position intended for early to mid-career electrical engineers who are building technical depth and professional judgment. Engineers at this level contribute meaningfully to project delivery while continuing to develop system knowledge, coordination skills, and independent problem-solving ability.

This role is ideal for engineers who want to learn through close collaboration with senior engineers and project managers, participate in a team environment, and grow toward increased technical and project responsibility.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical system design and documentation for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems across a range of project types
  • Develop construction documents, calculations, and technical narratives with minimal supervision
  • Apply firm standards, applicable codes (NEC, IECC, etc.), and best practices to produce high-quality, consistent deliverables
  • Coordinate with internal project teams, including mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology disciplines
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of department standards and processes
  • Collaborate with project managers to meet schedules, budgets, and quality expectations
  • As appropriate, serve as project engineer or project manager on select projects, depending on experience and fit

Mentorship and Collaboration

  • Provide informal technical support and coaching to younger staff as project needs arise
  • Participate in departmental activities such as standards development, QA/QC initiatives, and technical discussions
  • Remain actively engaged with the electrical department and broader firm culture

Tools and Technologies

  • REVIT, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam for design and documentation
  • Electrical analysis and calculation tools (e.g., SKM, ETAP, or similar)
  • Lighting design tools such as AGi32 (or similar)
  • Ajera and internal project tracking tools (training provided as needed)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience strongly considered; candidates with 2–5 years of relevant experience will also be evaluated based on capability and fit
  • Proven experience producing construction documents in the AEC industry
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. building codes, including NEC and applicable energy codes
  • Experience with common building electrical systems (power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, grounding, fire alarm)
  • Ability to work independently while remaining responsive and collaborative
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills

Licensure

  • FE and/or PE licensure is preferred but not required for this role
