Electrical Superintendent

JOB SUMMARY:

TNT is seeking a skilled Electrical Superintendent to join our dynamic operations team. The Electrical Superintendent has shift responsibility for an electrical crew involved in the installation, maintenance and repair of all surface and underground site electrical equipment related to the shaft sinking.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional Responsibilities

  • Assign job tasks to the electricians and monitor progress throughout the shifts
  • Ensures crews receive a proper lineup each shift and this lineup is recorded in the shift logbook
  • Ensure proper procedures are in place for electrical duties.
  • Improve productivity and the work environment, developing better work methods and scheduling employee time more effectively to increase productivity
  • Ensure tradesman have a good understanding of the electrical systems, electrical procedures, and maintenance programs
  • Prepare specifications and initiate procurement and properly store adequate inventories of required equipment and parts
  • Follow all installation and preventative maintenance procedures to ensure the safe efficient operation of all mechanical equipment
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in accordance with the preventative maintenance program
  • Ensure all required logbooks are maintained and updated
  • Ensures applicable procedures and work standards for all tasks being done are available and are understood and complied with by personnel engaged in such works
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Provide professional and courteous interaction with all stakeholders
  • Ensure work is completed in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the crew members know and understand safety and operating procedures and meet these standards at all times
  • Ensure that equipment and manpower are used optimally in their area of responsibility with the objectives of production, safety, health, and cost effectiveness considered

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for TNT
  • Incorporate Health and Safety considerations in all functions and daily activities of the position
  • Monitor work environment for health and safety hazards or infractions and reports the same to Health and Safety Department
  • Keep work area clean and free of clutter
  • Use proper equipment for the job, i.e. stepladder vs. chair

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Applicable Post-Secondary Degree in Engineering or E&I Technician or Technology Diploma.
  • 3+ years of related experience, preferably in a mining, engineering, or construction industry.
  • Strong foundation in both electrical and controls.
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Desire to take initiative and work independently.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

Certificate(s), License(s), Registration(s)

  • MSHA Underground Certification required
  • Electrical Trade Certificate required
  • Valid Drivers Certificate required

Physical Demands

  • Moderate
  • Lifting requirements: Occasionally lifting 25-50 lbs.
  • This is a manual laborer position and requires a passed physical to be hired
