Job description
Hickory Run Energy Station is a 1,000 MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle facility located approximately 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The facility features two Siemens SGT6-8000H gas turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), and a Siemens steam turbine generator, providing efficient and reliable power generation.
Opportunity Summary
As Maintenance Planner, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the safe, reliable performance of Hickory Run’s 1,000 MW combined-cycle facility and its Siemens turbine technology. You’ll plan outages and preventive maintenance, manage Maximo and critical spare parts, and coordinate maintenance activities across plant teams, OEMs, contractors, and vendors. This is an opportunity to apply your technical and planning expertise to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and directly influence plant performance.
Your scope of responsibility as Maintenance Planner will include the following primary functions:
Maintenance Planning, Execution & Reliability
- Develop and manage maintenance plans and schedules for Hickory Run’s combined-cycle equipment, including Siemens gas and steam turbines, HRSGs, generators, high-voltage electrical equipment, and balance-of-plant systems, based on operational needs and OEM recommendations.
- Lead maintenance planning meetings with operations, maintenance, plant leadership, contractors, OEMs, and service providers to prioritize work, coordinate resources, and align execution with plant requirements.
- Plan and coordinate major outages using Microsoft Project to develop schedules, allocate resources, track milestones, and communicate progress.
- Coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance and inspection programs based on equipment condition, operating hours, duty cycles, OEM guidance, and reliability objectives.
- Drive reliability improvements through reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), equipment performance and trend analysis, investigation of recurring issues, and support of root cause analyses (RCAs) and corrective actions.
- Establish maintenance priorities and contingency plans for forced outages and equipment failures to support safe recovery, equipment availability, and minimal plant downtime.
- Plan maintenance activities for electrical and I&C systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, auxiliary electrical equipment, DCS/PLC controls, and associated instrumentation.
- Complete Management of Change (MOC) documentation for proposed changes within the Station.
- Coordinate contractor work.
- Lead projects in the field, as appropriate.
CMMS, Materials & Vendor Coordination
- Administer Maximo CMMS, maintaining accurate work orders, preventive maintenance records, equipment history, inspection data, inventory information, and maintenance performance metrics.
- Leverage CMMS data and reporting to identify trends, evaluate maintenance performance, improve planning effectiveness, and provide actionable information to plant leadership.
- Manage critical spare-parts requirements and inventory for turbine, HRSG, electrical, I&C, and balance-of-plant systems to support planned and unplanned maintenance.
- Coordinate with Siemens and other OEMs, contractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain technical support, procure materials and services, schedule specialized work, and develop scopes for RFIs, RFPs, and bid packages.
Cost, Safety & Plant Support
- Support annual maintenance budgeting and cost tracking, identifying cost-effective solutions while maintaining plant safety, reliability, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate with operations on equipment isolations and LOTO procedures, and support emergency response and recovery during plant trips, equipment failures, and other unplanned events.
- Provide technical guidance to mechanical, electrical, and I&C personnel.
