Position Overview

This role is performed during nights and/or weekend hours. The Senior LAS Operations Training Specialist will assist lab service training leadership with the day-to-day operations of the training team. This role will help ensure that decisions are communicated timely and clearly to the team to allow for efficient and effective execution on the daily operations of the training team and will partner with leadership to ensure each trainer understands priorities and daily responsibilities. Furthermore, this position will act as a float trainer and subject matter expert for new hires and existing employee training with guided direction from training leadership, as needed. This role will inspect readiness for training, competency, and required documentation for CAP, CLIA, NY, and/or any other regulatory body. This role will develop, coordinate, and implement competency scheduling as well as ongoing inspection-readiness activities. In addition, this role will develop training expertise within the team by utilizing training and mentorship skills.

Essential Duties

include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist training leadership in the creation, maintenance, coordination, and communication of training schedules.

  • Complete administrative tasks to coordinate and track training progress and needs.

  • Communicate schedules, goals, and expectations clearly to the training team under the direction of training leaders.

  • Assist leadership with onboarding, scheduling, developing, and managing training team members.

  • Help develop the training expertise, behavior, mindsets, and skillsets of team members.

  • Provide subject matter and adult learning expertise in the design and delivery of training.

  • Assist leadership to evaluate the effectiveness of training and coordinate data metrics for department training goals.

  • Deliver training through in-person training, virtual training, hands-on/on-the-job training, virtual training, and other modalities, as needed.

  • Identify and adapt training style to meet learner needs.

  • Remain informed of procedure/workflow updates and distribute information appropriately.

  • Respond to technical questions, or seek guidance if answers are unknown.

  • Assist in retraining employees, as needed.

  • Collaborate with other trainers cross-functionally.

  • Create, edit, and maintain training materials or process documentation.

  • Assist in the development and administration of learning exams and/or competency evaluations.

  • Maintain accurate records of training in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

  • Perform all assigned job duties while following laboratory and regulatory policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, industrial), Training and Development, or field related to the essential duties of the job; or Associate degree and 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.

  • 7+ years of experience as a technical trainer, corporate trainer, or related training experience.

  • 2+ years of experience servicing laboratory or medical equipment.

  • Advanced understanding of instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, technical, and/or hands-on/on-the-job training.

  • Basic understanding of Lean Six Sigma problem-solving methodology.

  • Strong computer skills including internet navigation, user of virtual meeting tools, email usage, word processing, and data/records management.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a regulated environment, specifically under FDA, ISO, CAP and/or CLIA.

  • Knowledge of ISO 17025:2005 and 21 CRF Part 820 requirements in regard to inspection measuring and test equipment.

  • Experience in maintenance and repair of complex laboratory equipment, such as liquid handling robots.

The base pay for this position is

$61,300.00 - $122,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
