| Aspect | Electrical Installer |
---
Required Credentials
---
Typically, both roles require a high school diploma or equivalent, with electrical licensing or certification often necessary for electricians. Electrical installers may need specialized training or apprenticeships but generally do not require full electrician licensing.
Work Environment
---
Both roles work on construction sites, residential, and commercial buildings. Electrical installers focus on installing wiring, fixtures, and systems, while electricians may perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance.
Employer & Industry Usage
---
Both are used in construction, manufacturing, and maintenance industries. Electricians are licensed professionals performing a broader range of electrical work, whereas electrical installers focus on installation tasks.
In summary, electrical installers primarily handle the installation of electrical systems and components, often with less licensing than electricians, who perform a wider range of electrical services including repairs and troubleshooting. Both roles are essential in electrical projects but differ in scope and certification requirements.
As an electrical installer, your responsibilities include reading electrical schematics to complete electrical updates and wiring changes to both residential and commercial systems. You assemble, install, and wire circuit breakers and electrical panels and inspect the wiring, crimping, and installation of electrical connections based on quality guidelines. In some jobs, you may assist a team in installing HVAC systems, ignition systems, lighting, and generators, perform residential Main Panel Upgrades (MPU) as needed, and troubleshoot and repair various electrical components. Other duties include self-inspecting your work and attending training sessions to learn new products and installation methods.

Do you take satisfaction in knowing that every wire you ran is exactly where it belongs - routed cleanly, terminated correctly, and tested before you signed off? Are you the kind of person who reads the wiring diagram before picking up a tool, because you know that a shortcut at the beginning becomes a defect at final inspection? Do you find yourself double-checking your own work because getting it right matters more than getting it done fast? Are you looking for a workplace where your attention to detail and technical discipline are recognized - and where you can grow from entry level to the person everyone else comes to with the hard problems? If this sounds like you, then we need to talk...
Frazer, a leading builder of emergency medical vehicles, is currently seeking Electrical Installers at all experience levels - from candidates ready to learn the trade, to experienced installers who can own the most complex custom electrical configurations on the floor. Every ambulance module Frazer builds depends on this team to get the electrical system right. The work you do here powers the equipment that first responders count on when lives are on the line.
What Does a Week in the Life of an Electrical Installer Look Like?
Starts the shift by pulling up the work order in Frazer Job Manager, confirming all materials are staged and correct, and reviewing the wiring diagrams before the first wire is touched - because a setup problem caught early costs minutes, not hours.
Runs wire harnesses and conductors through EMS modules - routing them neatly, securing them correctly, and color-coding every connection against the print before terminating.
Installs switches, relays, circuit breakers, light bars, sirens, power distribution centers, and customer-specified custom options - each in the right location, with the right hardware, using the right tools.
Self-inspects completed installations before calling QC, verifying routing, placement, and termination integrity against the work order - then signs off in Frazer Job Manager.
Manages the work center's parts inventory and KanBan - validating incoming material, monitoring stock, and keeping the bench stocked so the line never stops for a missing component.
Maintains a clean, 6S-compliant workspace throughout the shift - tools where they belong, materials organized, and the floor clear.
At higher levels: troubleshoots electrical faults, resolves wiring conflicts and BOM errors, mentors newer installers, and serves as the team's technical go-to when the build gets complex or non-standard.

What We're Looking For:

Electrical assembly or installation experience - entry-level candidates welcome; more experience qualifies for a higher level and higher pay.
Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and follow written work instructions.
Comfortable working in confined spaces, on ladders, and under/over modules in an unairconditioned shop environment.
Detail-oriented, self-disciplined, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred but not required:
Electrical or Electronics certification (required to advance to Level III and above).
Experience with 12V DC automotive, ambulance, fire apparatus, or specialty vehicle electrical systems.
Familiarity with Frazer Job Manager, Shop-Trac, or similar production tracking systems.
Skills (to Pay the Bills)
Here's what the best Electrical Installers at Frazer have in common...
They read the diagram before they touch the wire - because they know that a wrong connection is faster to prevent than to trace and fix.
They double-check their own work - not because someone is watching, but because a defect that gets past them becomes someone else's problem downstream.
They keep their colors straight - wire identification isn't something they guess at. They verify every conductor against the print before terminating.
They own their workspace - 6S isn't something they do at shift end; it's how they work all day so nothing gets lost and nothing goes wrong.
They use the system - Shop-Trac and Frazer Job Manager are part of the job, not an afterthought. They clock in and out of tasks and sign off only when the work is verified.
They keep getting better - whether it's earning the next electrical certification or learning a new work center, they don't stand still.
Why Frazer?
Frazer builds emergency medical vehicles that go where lives are on the line. The electrical systems our installers build power the lights, sirens, communication equipment, and life-saving tools inside every one of those ambulances. The work is precise, the standards are high, and the people who do it well are recognized - with pay, with advancement, and with a clear path to grow.
What's in it for you:
Competitive hourly pay - starting rate based on your experience and installation assessment results
Weekly paycheck - so you get paid every Friday
401k with company match, health, dental, and disability coverage
Paid Time Off accruing from day one, 10 paid holidays, and company shutdown Christmas through New Year's
