A growing engineering and consulting firm is expanding their presence in the data center and mission-critical infrastructure space. Their team is focused on delivering high-quality electrical design and project execution across complex, large-scale environments.

As they continue to scale this practice, they are seeking individuals who thrive in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment and want to play a meaningful role in building something from the ground up.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong hands-on design experience in power distribution and mission-critical facilities. This individual will play a key role in designing and supporting electrical infrastructure for data center environments while helping shape the growth of an expanding practice.

This role is ideal for someone who still enjoys being deeply involved in design work, is on the path to (or already holds) a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, and is motivated to step into leadership as the team grows.

This is a hybrid position based in the Houston, TX area, offering flexibility within a collaborative, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design efforts for mission-critical and data center facilities
  • Design medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, including redundancy strategies
  • Develop single-line diagrams, power distribution layouts, and detailed electrical designs
  • Perform electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and coordination studies
  • Support design of backup power systems including generators, UPS systems, and transfer schemes
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, structural, etc.) to ensure integrated design solutions
  • Interface with utilities and support service entrance and infrastructure planning
  • Participate in construction support activities including submittal reviews, RFIs, and commissioning
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices
  • Contribute to mentoring junior engineers and helping build out the electrical team over time

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred)
  • 7–10 years of electrical engineering experience, with strong hands-on design work
  • Experience in power distribution and/or mission-critical environments (data centers strongly preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or actively pursuing with a defined timeline
  • Proficiency with electrical design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, SKM or similar)
  • Strong understanding of medium- and low-voltage systems, backup power, and redundancy design
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in contributing to a growing team and stepping into future leadership responsibilities
