Stantec's Buildings group in Berkley provides Engineering, Architecture, and Interior Design across multiple sectors including education, multi-family housing, workplace, civic, and research and development. Our Berkley, MI office is looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer who will be able to apply electrical engineering principals and superior client service skills to cultivate and deliver projects that exceed expectations.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical engineering design which may include engineering drawings, calculations, reports, design criteria, to support electrical engineering projects.
  • Perform calculations to analyze and design electrical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of electrical systems and materials and the development of electrical specifications.
  • Contribute to the development of electrical systems, through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Prepare electrical engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans and schedules.
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
  • Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
  • Participate in value engineering and basic cost estimating to support engineering projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Successful history of collaboration and teaming with electrical contractors on Design-Build projects or other alternate project delivery methods is preferred.
  • Experience in the built environment and/or in-depth knowledge of construction processes.
  • Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of power distribution systems, lighting systems, and fire alarms systems for the built environment.
  • Strong knowledge of higher education, science & technology, commercial workplace and/or industrial market sectors including architects, engineers, contractors, and facility managers operating within these markets.
  • Ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.
  • Strong client communication and interpersonal skills
  • Functional knowledge of recent versions of Revit MEP and Navisworks.
  • Strong working knowledge of AGI 32 (or equivalent), load analysis software, Microsoft Office, Newforma Project Center (or equivalent data management software) and Bluebeam.
  • Periodic travel may be required to meet engagement/client requirements

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree Engineering with an emphasis in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of three years of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
