Job description

For over 35 years, Yorktel has been the video managed services partner around the world for some of the largest business and government agencies. With over 10,000 video systems under management worldwide – more than any other video communications service provider – Yorktel has the proven expertise and global reach to deliver enterprise-quality visual communications.

Yorktel is currently seeking a Sr. Field Engineer who is focused on a fast-paced high-volume production and engineering department and staff. The Sr. Field Engineer is also responsible for meeting project commitments (both financial and non-financial) and the overall service of external customers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to strategic or operational planning within the field engineering departments, monitoring the performance of active projects, financial analysis to include job cost monitoring and reporting, staff training, adherence to standard operating practice and processes.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work within a team with varying expertise, influencing internal and external customers for mutually desirable outcomes
  • Troubleshoot issues, make recommendations, and ensure problem resolution with the team
  • Provide technical support to the sales team in a detailed and timely manner
  • Interface with clients and job sites to document customer requirements and conditions
  • Provide and document customer designs based on client needs and site conditions
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, consultants, and staff throughout the design and delivery process with support from the Supervisor
  • Develop Statements of Work based on system design and customer requirements
  • Create system design drawings, including audiovisual system diagrams, drawings, sketches, and specifications
  • Develop accurate job cost estimates
  • Provide technical responses to customer RFPs/RFQs/RFIs
  • Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records
  • Communicate effectively with internal staff, clients, cooperative trades, and subcontractors
  • Coordinate and manage multiple system design projects
  • Ensure successful completion of assignments on time and within budget
  • Develop and adhere to company technical standards and practices
  • Follow York-VCA policies and procedures
  • Participate in transition activities for effective information transfer from pre-sales to implementation teams
  • Create and implement test plans for York-VCA and customer lab solutions
  • Perform testing in lab environments emulating real-world conditions
  • Analyze customer networks to determine visual communication requirements
  • Support ad hoc and one-of-a-kind projects
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors to identify current and future technologies for clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned
