Job description

About the Role

This team member will play a critical role within our MEP team, leading electrical system designs, performing power distribution analysis, selecting equipment, and managing the preparation of engineering documents. The role involves collaborating with senior engineers, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, energy codes, and best practices for power, lighting, lighting control, and fire alarm systems.



Key Responsibilities

  • Design of electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings.
  • Perform load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and voltage drop calculations for system design.
  • Select and specify electrical distribution equipment, lighting systems, and controls.
  • Coordinate fire alarm system specifications and layouts with manufacturers and systems integrators.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to develop and refine electrical design layouts and construction drawings.
  • Research and ensure compliance with building codes, NFPA, NEC, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Manage projects independently or alongside senior engineers, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Assist in client communications, site visits, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering specifications, and cost estimates.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power distribution, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, electrical engineering technology, or electrical engineering preferred. (Associates in related field considered with experience).
  • Experience with CAD/Drafting software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Exposure to software such as ETAP or AGI32 would be beneficial but not required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, and low voltage building systems.
  • EIT preferred. Support available for employees pursuing PE licensure.
