ASRC Federal Advanced Research is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to support autonomy vehicle integrations in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Considering the state of the world today, military technical innovation is critical to defending our territories and those of our allies. The US Army is currently exploring advancements to equip ground combat forces with autonomous vehicle platforms. This effort presents a unique opportunity for civilians to participate in the research and development efforts that will shape future battlefield combat platforms.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities include; electrical and electronic design, system and component integration and development, and the production of electrical systems and equipment by developing, troubleshooting, and testing component solutions.
  • Responsible for the generation of scope of work estimates (Rough Order of Magnitude and Quotes) and engineering estimates for; manpower, material, schedule requirements, and potential risks, etc. to successfully meet customer requests for electrical system integration support.
  • Supervises the design, manufacturing, assembly, and installation of electrical vehicle systems and for correcting flaws or malfunctions, including wire harness development/ documentation, wire routing, and component selection.
  • Design and develop electrical equipment solutions, including electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, and MIL-spec wiring in military vehicles, vehicle subsystems, communications systems; and for power generation, control, and data transmission.
  • Develop manufacturing processes for MIL-spec cables and harnesses by designing and modifying military vehicular wiring systems. Resulting designs are to be documented in AutoCAD, Visio, Harnware or Creo in preparation for mass production.
  • Develop Electrical Schematics, "One-Wire" interconnect diagrams (power, signal, and data), system integration drawings, system requirements, Bills of Material, and the necessary notes and information to support Developmental & Product Technical Data Packages (per MIL-STD-31000)
  • Strong background in commercial production environment capable of programming/maintaining assembly line equipment, including programmable logic controllers, motor control drives, and assembly-line robotics is preferred
  • Build, test, and modify product/vehicle systems and subsystem prototypes.
  • Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance.
  • Willingness to travel CONUS and OCONUS, 25% annually.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 5+ years work related experience designing, assembling, and troubleshooting electrical systems. An engineer with a hands-on approach is preferred.
