Electrical Engineer - Power Systems Location: North Charleston, SC Work Schedule: On-site, Monday-Friday Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Salary Range: $120,000-$125,000 The Opportunity We are hiring a mid- to senior-level Electrical Engineer to design, build, integrate, test, and evaluate power systems supporting government missions. In this role, you'll take technical ownership of power generation and distribution solutions for a modular data and sensing environment. Your work will span AC/DC power systems, batteries, solar and alternative energy sources, power conversion, embedded hardware, and system-level integration. This is a hands-on engineering position. You'll work alongside mechanical and systems engineers to turn mission requirements into reliable, deployable hardware-including modular sensing payloads designed for demanding operational environments. What You'll Do * Lead end-to-end design and development of power generation systems, including battery, solar, and alternative power sources, from requirements analysis through fabrication and deployment. * Define requirements for power generation, distribution, and management, including power electronics, converters, and power factor correction. * Design and test AC and DC power systems and associated components. * Develop and execute test plans to validate system performance and reliability, including the design of automated test setups. * Build and integrate hardware components, circuit boards, and embedded systems supporting custom RF sensing payloads. * Lead the design and construction of custom RF and other sensing packages. * Fabricate and code control systems used to operate payload packages within a modular buoy platform. * Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues involving electrical systems and components. * Help define system interfaces and APIs that enable communication and interaction between applications and subsystems. * Perform trade studies involving power, weight, and other system attributes to establish sensor package requirements. * Evaluate and document system-specific modularity and interoperability across system platforms. * Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering disciplines to meet evolving technical requirements and program milestones. * Perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Bring * Active Secret Clearance. * Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. * 6-10 years of experience supporting Department of Defense acquisitions in a systems electrical engineering role. * Experience designing and testing AC and DC power systems. * Experience with power conversion systems, including AC/DC, DC/DC, inverters, and rectifiers. * Experience with hardware design, rapid prototyping, and laboratory validation. * Previous experience using Altium or equivalent software for PCB and circuit-system design. * Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Project. * Strong skills in Python, MATLAB, and other technologies relevant to system development and automation. * Ability to translate mission requirements into practical engineering designs. * Strong technical writing skills, including test plans, technical reports, and white papers. * Experience briefing technical results to leadership. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Ability to work on-site Monday through Friday in North Charleston, South Carolina. Experience designing, building, and fielding modular sensing payloads in Department of Defense environments will make you especially well aligned with the work. Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this position is $120,000-$125,000.
