Davenergy Solutions is currently seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer (Construction Management) to provide onsite Construction Facilities Management (CFM) support at the West Haven VA Medical Center in West Haven, CT. This role supports major renovation and construction efforts within an active VA medical facility by providing technical electrical engineering and construction management support in support of Government requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform full-time onsite Electrical Engineering support at an occupied VA medical facility.
  • Working knowledge of federal construction processes and applicable VA standards, codes, and guidelines.
  • Experience supporting electrical systems including normal and emergency power distribution, generators and transfer switches, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, low-voltage and special electrical systems
  • Ability to review construction documents, contractor submittals, RFIs/RFCs, schedules, and proposed changes and provide technical recommendations to the Government COR.
  • Experience conducting site observations and identifying electrical deficiencies, discrepancies, and non-conforming work.
  • Ability to support schedule, cost, quality, safety, and risk considerations related to electrical systems.
  • Experience maintaining project documentation including Inspection reports, daily logs, meeting minutes, correspondence, RFIs, submittals, and closeout documentation
  • Ability to participate in project meetings, site walks, and coordination with contractors, designers, and Government stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Kahua, Primavera P6, or other VA/federal construction management systems preferred.

Relevant Experience

  • Experience providing electrical engineering or construction management support for healthcare, VA, or federally funded construction projects.
  • Experience supporting large renovation or major construction projects within active medical facilities.
  • Experience reviewing and inspecting electrical installations for compliance with contract documents, NFPA standards, and applicable codes.
  • Prior VA, VISN, Department of Defense, or other federal healthcare facility experience strongly preferred.

Education

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher learning and/or demonstrated electrical engineering experience in a construction or facilities environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience; healthcare or federal facilities experience strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to see, hear, walk, drive, climb, reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be prepared to encounter all construction site conditions, including noise, dust, heights, odors, and enclosed spaces, and be physically capable of traversing sites with unstable footing, stairs, rough terrain, adverse weather, ladders, roofs, and other mobility-challenging conditions. Must possess the physical ability to take measurements, perform tests comparing in-place work to contract requirements, and observe work activities throughout the course of construction.
