We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III to support the design and development of electrical systems for transit products. This role will focus on controls, harnesses, electrical systems development, product innovation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive engineering solutions from concept through production.
Job Duties:
โข Design and develop electrical systems based on customer and technical requirements
โข Make engineering decisions to optimize product performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency
โข Support electrical system development from concept through production launch
โข Contribute to product innovation, process improvements, and potential patent development
โข Participate in DFMEA sessions and validation planning activities
โข Follow APQP/NPD processes to support successful product launches
โข Lead or support root cause analysis and corrective actions for electrical issues
โข Evaluate specifications and performance requirements to develop cost-effective solutions
โข Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to support DFM/DFA initiatives
โข Create and review wiring diagrams, schematics, and system layouts
โข Analyze testing results to improve product reliability and overall performance
โข Support Sales and Field Service teams in resolving customer issues
โข Manage or contribute to engineering projects and project deliverables
โข Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting activities
โข Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
โข Bachelorโs degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering required; Masterโs degree preferred
โข Degree from an ABET-accredited institution preferred
โข 6+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience
โข Basic project management skills with the ability to lead small engineering projects or project components
โข Experience developing electrical systems within transportation industries
โข Working knowledge of engineering and manufacturing principles, practices, and procedures
โข Experience with APQP, NPD Stage Gate, DFMEA, RCA/8D, DFM/DFA, engineering analysis, and hand calculations
โข Familiarity with Poka-Yoke, PPAP, VAVE, Lean Six Sigma, and DOE methodologies
โข Experience designing PCBs for motor control, embedded systems, and I/O applications
โข Knowledge of transportation electrical systems, schematics, and system topologies
โข Strong electrical testing, troubleshooting, and prototype development skills
โข Strong understanding of DC motors, relays, and contactors
