Job description

Telular is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support product development from concept through manufacturing. This role focuses on the design, testing, and support of digital and analog embedded systems, including highspeed interfaces, wireless technologies, and power management circuits. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with schematic design, PCB layout, prototyping, and test software development, and will collaborate crossfunctionally to ensure successful product delivery.  The ideal candidate will live in the Atlanta metro area.  There is no relocation for this position.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide product support throughout the full product lifecycle, from design through manufacturing.
  • Design schematics, perform PCB layout, select components, run simulations, and create BOMs and ECOs.
  • Develop designs for digital and analog microprocessor/embedded systems, including:
    • Highspeed interfaces (Ethernet, wireless modules)
    • Battery charging and power management
    • Audio and telephony line interfaces
  • Perform electrical analysis to determine circuit properties, characteristics, and performance at the circuit, assembly, and system levels.
  • Define, direct, and participate in design verification and validation testing for new products.
  • Write test firmware and automated test scripts to support design validation and troubleshooting.
  • Interface with external vendors and internal teams (manufacturing, test, quality, and supply chain) to facilitate product implementation from concept to production.
  • Build prototypes and models; perform handson circuitry testing to ensure designs meet performance and reliability guidelines.
  • Develop test software to validate prototypes against performance requirements and lifeexpectancy targets.
  • Perform onsite troubleshooting as needed to diagnose and resolve hardware issues.
  • Provide regular status updates and reports as directed.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge and handson experience within the electrical engineering discipline.
  • Continues to build knowledge of Telular's products, processes, and customers.
  • Performs a range of primarily straightforward engineering assignments.
  • Uses established guidelines, standards, and procedures to analyze and resolve technical issues.
  • Works under moderate supervision with guidance and direction as needed.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design CAD tools.
  • Handson experience using laboratory test equipment, including:
    • Power supplies
    • Multimeters
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Spectrum analyzers
  • Programming experience with languages such as C and Python.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) or equivalent tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ORCAD Schematic Capture, ORCAD PCB Design, and/or Allegro.
  • Experience supporting products in manufacturing or production environments.
