This role is responsible for system-level electrical design, control circuit development, power and controls analysis, and the creation of test and design documentation supporting new product development and qualification activities. As a hands-on contributor, you will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop, integrate, test, and improve electrical systems and controls hardware for ruggedized defense products. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining electrical schematic packages using AutoCAD Electrical and OrCAD/Altium, selecting and integrating control system and power electronic components, supporting prototype builds and testing, and ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and military compliance requirements. The ideal candidate brings experience in defense, naval, or other highly regulated industries, with a strong foundation in control systems, power electronics, electrical schematics, and system integration. Experience with military electrical standards, shipboard power systems, and customer-facing design reviews is highly desirable.**General Responsibilities** • Key participant in creating designs within inter-disciplinary teams to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges • Collaborates on feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs • Organizes development testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch • Key participant in failure analysis investigations and engineering evaluations • Maintains product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons including; producing design reports, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures • Collaborates with senior engineers/managers to engage with customers in soliciting product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget **Experience / Qualifications**• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers**Additional Responsibilities*** Develop, integrate, and validate control systems for electromechanical and power electronics hardware.* Support SDRL development and submittals for required electrical deliverables.* Participate in PDR and CDR design reviews with the Navy and Shipbuilders.* Develop and manage system schematic packages using AutoCAD Electrical and board-level schematic sets using OrCAD/Altium.* Create and maintain wiring harnesses and interconnect diagrams for system-level electrical assemblies.* Perform circuit analysis, including power budgeting, signal integrity, component derating, and failure analysis.* Select electrical and control components based on performance requirements, environmental constraints, industry standards, and manufacturability considerations.* Apply knowledge of military shipboard electrical systems and MIL-STD requirements to design reliable and robust solutions.**Additional Preferred Qualifications*** Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and OrCAD/Altium schematic capture tools.* Strong knowledge of control systems, power electronics, and wiring practices.* Ability to read, create, and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.* Experience developing and executing test plans and documenting results.* Experience selecting electrical and control system components based on technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements.* Understanding of industry and military shipboard electrical standards.* Experience designing, simulating, and prototyping electrical hardware and PCBAs for military equipment; MIL-E-917E and MIL-STD-461 experience preferred.* Exposure to PWM, PLL, and PID control methodologies.* Familiarity with C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink.* Experience with Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testbeds.* Hands-on troubleshooting experience with high-voltage circuits.**Base Salary Range:****$****118,800.00 - 178,200.00***At Sensata, our employees are the key to our success and growth.
