Job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED CertificateBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering 1 - 2 years' of experience in electric utility field Certification, EIT or Professional EngineerKnowledge of RUS Electrical Standards, Specification, National Electric Code (NEC), and National Electric Safety Code (NESC).Requires a Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle review) JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:Direct data collection, field information, and data base input for station load reports, interpret and analyze data to monitor continuous capability of equipment, capacity, voltage levels, power factor, etc.Perform load flow studies and circuit modeling for transmission and distribution circuits. Make recommendations for improvements.Approve the technical content of work orders for construction or upgrades of applicable facilities including renewable systems.Reviews all designs, plans and specifications for electrical facilities to assure compliance of RUS and NTUA standards, integrity of system protection and stability and consistency in design.Perform sectionalizing coordination studies on distribution circuits and transmission lines and specify improvements needed based upon emergency conditions and the outage report database.Responsible for the electrical facilities maintenance program which includes distribution and transmission system equipment and lines, renewable systems, forecasts maintenance schedules, assist in scheduling and tracks progress.Design substation facilities as needed to accommodate growth requirements in the NTUA service area. Standardize substation design.Provide code and regulations interrelations for the Authority's management and employees.Establishes, reviews and updates standards for the overall design of electrical facilities including transmission, distribution, and substation, renewable systems, and the modification or upgrading of such facilities.Assists in the preparation and forecasting of capital and operations budgets.Utilizes planning, load forecasting, econometric and end use modeling to predict needed improvements in system operations and service reliability.Perform project management that encompasses all phases of projects, including, preliminary planning and meetings, designs, materials specifications, construction, and providing schedules and timelines. Performing Monitoring, Tracking, and reporting on the projects.Working collaboratively with various outside entities on projects, including contractors, consultants, developers, architects, and engineering firms.Conducts field investigations including investigating service interruptions to perform root cause analysis and recommendation of solutions and providing technical support as required.Performs field work as required, including verifying clearances on existing structures, recommending field modifications.Assist in the preparation four-year construction work plans and system studies, forecasting of capital and operations budgets.Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
