As an Avionics Electrical Engineer at Hermeus, you will be responsible for the design, testing, and integration of GNC systems, electrical hardware, control software, power distribution, and RF communications for our hypersonic vehicles.ย Responsibilities
  • You will shape the future of commercial supersonic and hypersonic flight. Our team is responsible for the design, testing, and integration of GNC systems, electrical hardware, control software, power distribution, and RF communications.
  • The Electrical Engineer position requires system-level architects who are also experts in their specialized areas.
  • As an avionics electrical engineer, you'll take charge of designing and testing custom electrical systems for both ground test and flight applications.ย 
  • You will ensure the seamless integration and compatibility of your designs at the sub-system and integrated system level.
  • As a member of the avionics team, you'll have the opportunity to work across disciplines to create control and instrumentation systems for engine, structural, hydraulic, and electrical systems.ย 
Requirements
  • ย Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 1+ years of experience in multiple of the following areas: electrical hardware design, control systems, instrumentation and signal conditioning, digital communication busses, analog design and simulation, power electronics, harness design
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Master's degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering or similar disciplines
  • Demonstrated project experience with embedded design, device integration, V&V, environmental qualification and/or flight testing
  • Familiarity with test and simulation tools (DMM, Oscilloscope, power supplies, SPICE, Ansys)
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical design and version control software (Altium Designer, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Capital Harness, Git, Teamcenter)
  • Experience with avionics devices and protocols (RS-485, ARINC-685, FPGAs, GPS, INS, D38999 style connectors, etc.)
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards (IPC-620, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-HDBK-516C, MIL-STD-464D, DO-160G)ย 
  • Experience working with DC power systems (Batteries, Motors, Generators, etc.)
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • A bias towards action, and a willingness to work hands-on to make it happen
  • Engineering project team experience
  • Ability to travel on short notice to support test campaignsย
