Job description

Hazen & Sawyer is seeking an electrical engineer for our Seattle, WA. Qualified candidates should have experience in industrial power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, generator design, motor control, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout, and related activities. Candidates should have a working knowledge of the NEC and related Codes. Candidate must have strong communication skills, including interaction with senior engineers, clients, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the lead electrical engineer on multiple concurrent projects for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Prepare project specifications
  • Perform conductor sizing, conduit sizing, protective device sizing, lighting, and other electrical calculations
  • Coordinate with civil, process-mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, and instrumentation disciplines
  • Perform site visits as needed
  • Perform electrical design work in AutoCAD and/or Revit as required by the project
  • Perform electrical power system studies in SKM and/or ETAP as required by the project
  • Review shop drawings and respond to request for information
  • Support the lead electrical engineer to perform factory witness testing of electrical equipment as required by the project

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial Electrical Engineering and Design;
    • Prior experience in water/wastewater industry is desirable
  • Experience with industrial power distribution system
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with SKM or ETAP power system software is desirable
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit BIM software is desirable
  • EIT certification or ability to maintain within 1 year of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Electrical Engineering
