Job description

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for executing, planning, and/or coordinating technical engineering activities for static and dynamic vehicle weighing projects according to their schedule and budget. The basic duties include foundational research, project and order engineering, product development, product testing, regulatory compliance, intellectual property protection, project execution according to METTLER TOLEDO Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) guidelines, and product support for industrial vehicle weighing equipment and weighing solutions. These projects may include full-length, single-axle, multi-axle, single-draft vehicle weigh-in-motion, low to high-speed vehicle weigh-in-motion, rail coupled-in-motion, and unattended weighing. The responsibilities are as follows:
  • Contributes to analyzing and solving routine problems.
  • Conducts basic research related to new technologies, product applications, or new products.
  • Quoting of custom product requests.
  • Support the supply chain with the sourcing of components.
  • Works with software engineers to define hardware / firmware interfaces.
  • Works to insure DFMA.
  • Participate in main design of custom and standard Mechanical/Electrical product solutions.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support for the assembly, final product testing, and production problem diagnostics as required.
  • Perform product tests and validations at MT facilities or field sites, with internal and external partners, verifying that specifications are met.
  • Develop product drawings, documentation, bills of material, and manuals for products.
  • Prepare technical documentation, manuals, bulletins, sales tools, and training material.
  • Participate in new product development projects according to the METTLER TOLEDO PLM guidelines.
  • Align products with global compliance, safety, and cybersecurity regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of intellectual property protection for products.
  • Collaborate with the Service Team in the development of the product service concept.
  • Participate in the product launch with the Product Manager and other MT marketing representatives.
  • Participate as a sales/service/customer training instructor and/or in other sales/customer related presentations.
  • Provide third tier active product life support for industrial vehicle weighing equipment and weighing solutions for technicians and customers.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field. Electrical Engineering preferred with mechanical and software experience considered a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an electrical engineer
  • Must have fundamental knowledge of electronics engineering obtained through school.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Electronic CAD tools.(Experience with 3D modeling preferred)
  • Strong technical aptitude related to electrical and communications interconnects within industrial systems.
  • Good organizational skills coordinating the work of multiple internal and external project contributors.
  • Ability to effectively communicate plans, proposals, results, and negotiate options.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently within a globally distributed development team.
