Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring an Electrical Engineer - PV for a solar and renewable energy equipment manufacturer in Houston, TX. In this role, you will troubleshoot and test solar inverters and battery storage systems in the field and in the lab, lead root cause analysis, and create and update field service procedures for installation and maintenance. This is a highly technical, customer-facing position with a growing global clean energy company.
Pay:$80,000-$120,000/year
Location:Los Angeles, CA | Houston, TX | St. Louis, MO | Indianapolis, IN
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Primary workplace language(s): English/Mandarin
Work Environment: Field and laboratory settings; some hybrid/onsite depending on assignment
Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and test solar inverters and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the field and in the lab using PQA analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Lead root cause analyses and prepare technical reports for customers on inverter faults, battery issues, and utility grid transients.
  • Create and update field service procedures covering installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Work with customer SCADA engineers to configure system communications and operating parameters.
  • Track and manage technical issues from customers and field service teams using Airtable and analyze failure trends to recommend proactive corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with R&D engineering on technical documentation, design improvement feedback, and component research for field alternatives.
  • Provide technical training to customers, vendors, and internal personnel on inverter systems, battery storage, and safety topics.

Minimum Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering with hands-on work on solar inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or related power electronics.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using PQA (Power Quality Analyzers) and oscilloscopes for electrical diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with Airtable or similar issue-tracking and workflow management platforms.
  • Background in photovoltaic (PV) systems, grid-tied inverters, or utility-scale energy storage.
  • Experience coordinating with R&D or engineering teams on technical documentation or design feedback.
  • Knowledge of utility grid behavior, grid transients, and inverter fault analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Experience performing field or lab-based electrical troubleshooting and testing.
