Job description

A rapidly growing, VC-backed robotics company in Boston, MA is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to help build the next generation of warehouse automation technology. The company develops AI-powered robotic systems that automate complex warehouse operations, combining advanced robotics, mechanical engineering, and intelligent software to improve safety and efficiency in real-world environments. This is a full-time hybrid opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who wants to work on cutting-edge robotic hardware from concept through production.

This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on the future of industrial automation by designing rugged robotic systems that operate in challenging warehouse environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanical engineer who enjoys solving complex hardware challenges, building prototypes, improving reliability, and collaborating across mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams. You’ll have the chance to work in a fast-paced startup environment where your designs move quickly from idea to deployed product, while continuing to grow your expertise in robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally within robotics, automation, or complex electromechanical systems
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience owning mechanical designs from concept through production
  • Strong CAD experience with Onshape, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar parametric CAD tools
  • Experience designing machined parts, sheet metal components, and welded assemblies
  • Hands-on prototyping, testing, and design iteration experience
  • Experience with tolerance stack-ups, DFMEA, FAI, PPAP, and engineering documentation
  • Experience supporting production builds and troubleshooting mechanical issues in the field
  • Experience with ECO/deviation processes and design change management

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Robotics, warehouse automation, or industrial automation experience
  • Experience designing hardware for real-world deployment environments
  • Knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, 3D printing, and injection molding
  • Experience with Onshape and Arena PLM
  • Experience collaborating with electrical and software engineering teams
  • Familiarity with safety standards and quality control processes
