Job description

The Electrical Engineer manages, plans, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters and meet both client and MSBโ€™s quality requirements. Conducts greenfield and brownfield project design and supports development with a team of engineers, designers, and drafters to complete electrical installation drawing packages for high-, medium- and low- voltage systems.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Write construction scope of work, equipment purchase specifications and data sheets.
  • Perform all aspects of electrical analyses including system modeling, fault current, load flow, protective device coordination, motor starting, and arc flash using software systems.
  • Design medium-voltage protective relaying systems.
  • Develop drawings including one-line diagrams, area classifications plans & details, grounding and routing plans, installation details, and wiring schematics & diagrams.
  • Develop and execute equipment testing procedures including interpretation of relay logic diagrams, electrical schematics, and protective relay programs.
  • Complete technical reviews of all project work product to ensure it conforms to industry codes, client standards, and MSB quality standards.
  • Establish and maintain clear channel of frequent communication with the client and address any questions or concerns related to projects.
  • Provide project status updates including budget and schedule to team and clients.
  • Work with Department Manager and Team Leads to identify resource expectations and project progress.
  • Participate in technical societies and associations representing MSB.
  • Experience in project scope development, estimating, and execution.

Education and/or Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering
  • Strong background in power distribution, medium- and low-voltage system, and protective relaying
  • Experience with ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower preferred
  • Prior experience in industrial environments (petrochemical/refining/midstream/ marine) is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and collaborative communication skills

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
