Purpose:

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides high-quality electrical engineering services to Worley and its customers. This role is responsible for the technical execution of electrical engineering work across projects, supporting delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements, while contributing to mentoring and technical development within the electrical engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver electrical engineering services that meet Worley, client, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
  • Leading the execution of electrical engineering activities on assigned projects or defined project scopes.
  • Supporting project planning and delivery, including participation in relevant meetings, preparation of progress reports, and compliance with required checking and quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensuring project scope is clearly defined and that changes are managed in accordance with project change management processes.
  • Providing technical input and support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, including:
    • Preparation and review of electrical equipment and materials requisitions.
    • Technical bid evaluations.
    • Review of vendor documentation and purchase orders.
  • Coordinating electrical engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams (process, instrumentation, mechanical, piping, automation) to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies between Worley and client standards and requirements.
  • Supporting the development and technical review of electrical engineering deliverables.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers and designers as required.
  • Communicating effectively with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifying technical issues and risks, developing appropriate solutions, and escalating when needed.

What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering electrical engineering work on industrial projects (e.g., energy, mining, chemicals, power, or infrastructure).
  • Working experience in vendor selection, including technical evaluations.
  • Working knowledge of engineering systems, workflows, and document management tools.
  • Familiarity with process safety and operability considerations (e.g., participation in HAZOP/LOPA where electrical systems interface with safety functions).
  • Experience in overall project execution including engineering, procurement, shipping, installation, start-up, and project management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Electrical Engineering deliverables, including:
  • Electrical single-line diagrams and schematics.
  • Power distribution studies and load lists.
  • Motor control center (MCC) layouts and schematics.
  • Cable schedules, routing, tray and conduit layouts.
  • Grounding and bonding drawings.
  • Lighting and small power layouts.
  • Area classification and hazardous area electrical layouts.
  • Bills of material.
  • Material requisitions.
  • Construction and engineering work packages.
  • Working knowledge of electrical system design and application, including:
  • Low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Motor control and protection systems.
  • Variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Lighting systems and emergency power.
  • Grounding, bonding, and lightning protection.
  • Hazardous area electrical design and applicable codes/standards.
  • Relevant experience in industrial electrical engineering
  • Solid experience in electrical engineering roles on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, review, and interpret electrical designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Accredited Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer registration or the ability to obtain licensure.
