Job description

#jobalert | DIRECT HIRE | ELECTRICAL ENGINEER | MANUFACTURING | Greater Houston Area

Our client is an established, privately-held manufacturer of custom-built HVAC equipment for industrial, commercial, and hazardous-duty applications, based in the Houston area. For decades they've engineered climate-control systems built to exact customer specifications for demanding environments, including petrochemical and industrial facilities. As their engineering team grows, they're adding an Electrical Engineer to lead the design of power and control systems behind their custom equipment โ€” with a real path to step into a senior engineering leadership role in the next few years. This is a chance to own engineering decisions on equipment other people depend on to keep running, not push paper on a standard product line.

  • Anticipated $100K-$140K annually, based on experience
  • Full suite of benefits: Health/Dental/Vision, PTO, 401(k) with company match
  • PTO/Holiday
  • Mondayโ€“Friday, in-office schedule with flexible daily start/stop times

Overview

  • Design power and control systems for custom-built industrial and hazardous-duty HVAC equipment, from concept through fabrication
  • Build wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and electrical schematics that fabrication and field teams can execute without guesswork
  • Run the electrical calculations โ€” load calcs, wire sizing, short-circuit current ratings โ€” that keep designs code-compliant and safe
  • Select and specify electrical components based on project requirements and customer specs
  • Own the full electrical drawing package and submittal documentation from design through as-built
  • Work directly with fabrication and installation teams to solve problems as equipment gets built and tested
  • Grow into a senior engineering leadership role as the department transitions over the next few years

Preferred Skills/Experiences

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas preferred; may be required depending on scope
  • 8โ€“10+ years of experience in HVAC, manufacturing, or a related industrial field
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge of control circuit design โ€” relays, transformers, VFDs, contactors, heaters
  • Solid understanding of PLCs; ability to support programming a plus
  • Working knowledge of electrical power and control circuit design (AC/DC)
  • Understanding of NEC and applicable electrical codes and standards
  • Experience with hazardous location design (Class/Division, IEC/ATEX) a plus
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment and components (fans, compressors, heaters, controls) a plus, not required
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specs, drawings, and system schematics

KEYWORDS: Electrical Engineer, AutoCAD Electrical, PLC, NEC, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel design, power distribution, control circuit design, VFD, relays, transformers, contactors, MCA, MOCP, SCCR, Bill of Materials, BOM, hazardous location, IEC, ATEX, HVAC manufacturing, industrial electrical design, PE license, Professional Engineer, electrical submittals, panel layout, single line diagrams, Houston TX
