Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.Description:As part of a small leadership team you'll play a critical role in the architecture, development, integration and verification/validation of all the software for the New Glenn rocket system. This is a very hands-on role where your job will evolve alongside the lifecycle of the software used both on and off the vehicle. We're looking for a senior-level engineer, a leader with excellent technical and communication skills with extensive experience in Model Based Design (MBD) methodologies and formal methods for verifying and validating safety critical software to established military or commercial standards (e.g. DO-178C or similar). You'll be able to direct system-level aspects of the software design in order to ensure that we’re building a streamlined, verifiable software solution. A successful candidate has the skills to author the foundational planning documents for software teams to follow, as well as dive deep into technical areas to resolve issues as they arise in development, integration, or verification. Launch vehicles today are systems of software systems, and this is role is pivotal in qualifying that system for flight.Responsibilities:Define and author the software development and verification plansPlan and execute the integrated software verification and validation programDefine risk reduction integration methods in coordination with system engineeringMonitor and approve system-level software testsWork with Guidance & Control engineers or systems engineers to develop testing solutions against system-level performance requirements.Participate in all aspects of integrated hardware/software system verification and validation including planning, execution, troubleshooting, issue resolution, documentation of results, and reviewsPromote Design for Verification as a core principle of the development teamHelp establish the methods and processes necessary to qualify Simulink autocoded low level software requirementsMentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers across the program and the companyCollaborate with software development engineers and hardware simulation engineers to identify and resolve root causes of failuresGenerate metrics and trending for managing risk and communicating software readiness for flight operationsQualifications:B.S. degree computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related technical discipline7+ years relevant experience with verification/validation of safety critical softwareExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsExperience in the full lifecycle development of aerospace systems, including requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning and operationDemonstrated experience with MATLAB and Simulink and autocoding methodsHands-on experience with embedded software testing and test developmentMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumDesired:M.S. or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related technical disciplineAble to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actionsExperience with aerospace vehicles (e.g., Boeing 787, 777x, Orion) and model based design (MBD) methodologies leading to certification of human spaceflight systemsBase Pay Range for:WA applicants is $183,193.00 - $256,469.85Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
