Electrical and Electronics Drafter
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Electrical Drafter with strong experience in SolidWorks Electrical to support wiring and electrical system design. This role focuses on the development of aircraft wiring documentation, harness assemblies, and electrical integration packages.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Create and maintain detailed wiring schematics, harness drawings, and interconnect diagrams using SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Develop 2D and 3D electrical routing models integrated with mechanical assemblies.
  • Produce complete wiring documentation packages including:
  • Wire lists and cut lists
  • From-to wiring tables
  • Connector pinouts
  • Backshell configurations
  • Shield terminations and grounding schemes
  • Splice and termination details
  • Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for harness assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace standards, including IPC and military specifications where applicable.
  • Support design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly reviews for harness fabrication.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, systems engineers, and mechanical designers to ensure proper routing, separation, EMI protection, and structural integration.
  • Incorporate engineering changes (ECOs/ECNs) into released drawing packages with strict configuration control.
  • Support and help maintain configuration control within Altium and Solidworks Electrical
  • Support prototype builds, qualification testing, and production troubleshooting.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with AS9100 and internal quality systems.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in aerospace or other high-reliability electrical environments.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical (schematic design, harness design, 3D routing).
  • Strong understanding of aerospace wiring practices
  • Experience creating detailed harness drawings and wiring documentation packages.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace connectors (e.g., MIL-DTL series), backshells, and shielding.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and revision control processes.
  • Ability to interpret system block diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), and electrical requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:
  • IPC certifications, such as:
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies)
  • IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies)
  • IPC J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies)
  • Experience with Altium Designer for PCB schematic capture and layout.
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards such as MIL-STD-1553, DO-160, or related environmental/EMI standards.
  • Experience working within an AS9100-certified quality management system.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology, Aerospace Engineering Technology, or related field.
