Job Description

An Electrical Drafter is responsible for preparing detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and technical documentation to support engineering projects. This role works closely with electrical engineers, project managers, and other disciplines to develop accurate design packages for construction, manufacturing, or installation.

Responsibility and Authority

  • Electrical Drafter is responsible for preparing detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and technical documentation to support engineering projects
  • This role works closely with customers, production, project managers and other disciplines to develop accurate design packages for construction, manufacturing, installation and wiring.
  • Develop electrical drawings including:
  • Create detailed 2D layouts and drawings for electrical enclosures
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards, electrical codes, 3rd party standards and customer requirements
  • Review vendor drawings and incorporate approved equipment data into project documents
  • Revise drawings based on engineering markups and client feedback
  • Maintain drawing standards, document control, and revision logs
  • Assist in standardizing design templates, symbols, and drawing practices
  • Support continuous improvement of design processes and shop efficiency
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation practices


Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • 1-2 years experience with AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent software, completing physical panel layouts and wiring diagrams
  • Formal training is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of electrical symbols, schematics and industry drafting standards
  • Understanding of power systems, motor controls, PLC layouts and instrumentation diagrams
  • Ability to perform basic electrical calculations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
