Job description

Overview: we are seeking a skilled Electrical Panel Builder to assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot electrical distribution panels and transformer-based temporary power equipment used in construction, industrial, utility, entertainment, military, and infrastructure applications.

This position works from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly instructions to build custom and standard power distribution equipment, including:

  • Portable Power Distribution Boxes (PPBs)
  • E-Carts
  • Temporary Power Distribution Units
  • Transformer Panels
  • Cam-Lok Distribution Systems
  • Generator Connection Cabinets
  • Custom Engineered Power Systems

The ideal candidate has experience building electrical control panels, switchgear, power distribution equipment, or industrial machinery and possesses strong electrical troubleshooting skills.

Available Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (M – TH)

Other Shift Options include:

4:00 AM - 2:30 PM (M-TH)

5:00 AM - 3:30 PM (M-TH)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Panel Assembly

  • Assemble electrical distribution panels, enclosures, and transformer assemblies.
  • Mount circuit breakers, disconnects, transformers, receptacles, relays, power distribution blocks, terminals, and control components.
  • Layout components according to engineering drawings and production standards.
  • Drill, tap, punch, and prepare enclosure components when required.

Electrical Wiring

  • Read and interpret:
  • Electrical schematics
  • One-line diagrams
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Bills of Material
  • Assembly drawings
  • Route, terminate, and identify conductors per drawings and work instructions.
  • Wire single-phase and three-phase power distribution systems.
  • Perform crimping, torqueing, lug installation, and conductor preparation using approved tools and methods.
  • Install and connect:
  • Cam-Lok systems
  • Pin and sleeve devices
  • NEMA receptacles
  • GFCI protection systems
  • Grounding and bonding components

Testing & Quality

  • Verify wiring accuracy against schematics.
  • Perform continuity testing, insulation checks, and functional testing.
  • Conduct visual inspections to ensure workmanship meets Ericson quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and make corrections as required.
  • Document testing and inspection results.

Production Support

  • Accurately record labor and production activity within ERP systems.
  • Maintain production schedules and meet established productivity goals.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in prototype builds and custom engineered projects.


Minimum Qualifications, Education and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, electrical training, or vocational education preferred.


Experience:

One of the following:

  • 2+ years electrical panel building experience
  • 2+ years industrial electrical assembly experience
  • Industrial electrician experience
  • Control panel wiring experience
  • Electrical equipment manufacturing experience


Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Candidate should possess working knowledge of:
  • Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • NEC fundamentals
  • AC power systems
  • Single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
  • Electrical test equipment
  • Hand and power tools
  • Electrical component identification


Ability to:

  • Read and understand technical drawings
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Troubleshoot wiring and assembly issues
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work safely around energized equipment following lockout/tagout procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industrial Electrician experience
  • UL 508A panel building experience
  • Transformer assembly experience
  • Temporary power equipment experience
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Forklift certification
  • Experience with torque-controlled electrical connections
  • Familiarity with power distribution equipment up to 600V
