Job description

Instrument & Electrical Technician

Location: Alsip, IL
Pay: Starting at $40/hour + potential annual bonus (up to 4%)

Overview

Reporting to the Engineering/Maintenance Leader, the Instrument & Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical, instrumentation, and control systems that support safe and reliable plant operations.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on motors, MCCs, VFDs, switchgear, power distribution systems, and plant equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
  • Diagnose equipment issues, replace components, perform calibrations, and verify system performance.
  • Support plant operations by responding to equipment failures and participating in an on-call rotation.
  • Assist with capital projects, equipment installations, and startup activities.
  • Support instrumentation and DeltaV DCS troubleshooting.
  • Maintain maintenance records, PM programs, and equipment data within SAP.
  • Source electrical and instrumentation parts as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
 Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Electrical apprenticeship, electrician certification, or equivalent industrial electrical/instrumentation training preferred.
  • 4+ years of electrical and instrumentation experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience with motors, VFDs, MCCs, electrical distribution systems, and industrial controls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems independently.
  • Experience with SAP and DeltaV is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
 Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, outdoors, and wear appropriate PPE including respirators when required.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and powered lifts.
