Job description

Job Title: Distribution DesignerJob Description

The designer will be responsible for preparing solutions to a wide range of technical problems through the application of standard engineering practices and principles. This role involves preparing engineering plans, designs, specifications, standards, cost estimates, evaluations, or studies, and assisting in the preparation of higher complexity work. Additional duties may include data and records management, research, project support, and customer interaction. Project guidelines may require interpretation and adaptation in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field visits in dedicated territories within Washington.
  • Support Project Managers with street light coordination, execution, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Perform AutoCAD drafting for street lighting projects (electric).
  • Analyze work orders, construction packages, and documentation.
  • Interpret permits, utility standards, and design requirements.
  • Assist with estimating and basic project analysis.
  • Route and delegate workload to appropriate project managers.
  • Ensure accuracy and timely completion of high-volume deliverables.
  • Maintain consistent communication with internal teams.
Essential Skills
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-3 years CAD experience at an intermediate level, with familiarity with AutoCAD Map 3D 2021.
  • Understanding of cost estimates, particularly with WinEst Pro Plus software.
  • Foundation in civil, electrical, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Experience within utilities such as electric, gas, water/sewer, and overhead/underground systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and permits.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in utility system design (electric, gas, piping).
  • Experience supporting Public Utility Districts (PUD) or similar organizations.
  • Exposure to MEP or infrastructure design projects.
Work Environment

This hybrid role requires local travel, with approximately 20% field work and 80% design work. The candidate must be able to operate an issued motor vehicle and possess a valid Washington driver's license with a clean driving record. Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, in a high-volume, production-driven environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
