We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Substation Designer to join our team at K&A Engineering in Cary, NC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. You'll be part of a dynamic, people-focused team where your expertise, ideas, and contributions will be valued and celebrated.
Role Expectations:
  • Prepare physical layout drawings for substations and produce electrical plans and sections as well as grounding and conduit drawings.
  • Prepare bills of materials and review drawings and specifications.
  • Responsibilities will include the preparation of the following substation drawings:
  • Substation General Arrangement
  • Substation AIS design
  • Substation Electrical Equipment Plans
  • Substation Section Views (Elevations)
  • Substation Detailed Bill of Material
  • Substation Grounding Plan
  • Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details
  • Substation Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan
  • Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section

What we're looking for:
  • Experience 4+ years experience in utility substation design
  • A 2 year associates degree in engineering technology or drafting is preferred
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Strong knowledge with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel

Pay Range $70,000- 100,000/year
