Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, the Underground Electrical Supervisor will oversee electricians and instrumentation and control technicians. He or she is responsible for all electrical work across the mine's underground operations. The supervisor must plan, organize, direct, and oversee his or her team's activities. Based at the Windfall site in the Northern Quebec region, the supervisor will work on a schedule of 15 days on, followed by 13 days off. Transportation, lodging, and meals are provided. 

Duties and responsibilities                

Ensure that work and installations are carried out safely and comply with the standards, codes, and regulations applicable in Quebec;

Plan and supervise electrical work at the Windfall site in the exploration ramp;

Place orders for supplies and equipment necessary for the advancement and maintenance of infrastructure at the site to ensure the smooth running of operations;

Organize the schedule for underground electricians;

Plan the electrical component (labor and equipment) of budgets, schedules, and cost tracking;

Oversee the planning, organization, and management of preventive maintenance activities;

Work closely with electrical engineers;

Report to your supervisor any situations that may affect your team's work. Share any suggestions for improvement and innovative ideas to enhance project and maintenance processes;

Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and rules, and ensure that staff adhere to these rules;

Actively manage health and safety, conduct on-site inspections, complete and validate lockout forms, develop and review task safety analyses (TSAs), and lead safety meetings for the team;

Manage staff: conduct performance evaluations, provide guidance, and oversee the training and certification of electricians, as well as manage the team's skill set;

Supervise and coordinate electrical contractors and subcontractors working underground;

Perform any other duties related to the position of underground electrical supervisor that are relevant to the project's success.



Required qualifications 

Hold a college diploma (DEC) in Industrial Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Instrumentation and Control (a plus) or hold a vocational diploma (DEP) in electricity or electromechanics; 

Have 10 years of experience, including 5 years in the electrical field in underground mines;

Hold the Quebec Certificate of Competence in Electricity (CE) (Class "C" electrical license);

Have supervisory experience;

Have experience working on the startup of new mining projects (an asset);

Have a good knowledge of English (will be required to work with English-language tools);

Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;

Hold an explosives permit;

Have successfully completed mining modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7.



Technical skills

Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, etc.);

Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software, such as SAP S4/HANA;

Knowledge of instrumentation and control (e.g., PLC, DCS, fiber optics, etc.);

Proficiency in building codes as well as the various laws and regulations governing the distribution and use of electrical power in a mine;

Proficiency with the CSA Z462 standard;

Knowledge of low-, medium-, and high-voltage underground distribution networks;

Strong skills in reading single-line diagrams;

Knowledge of fire alarm systems (a plus).
