Job Title : Electrical Engineer 3 or Sr.

Location: Birmingham, AL (Hybrid)

Contract: 60 Months

Skills and Responsibilities

This position provides support to the Grid Operations and Planning Research area within Southern Company’s Research & Development. The engineer will support projects and in time lead efforts to deploy and evaluate the performance of emerging technologies in this arena. The position is primarily focused on tools to support grid operations with an emphasis on power system analysis, power system modeling and simulation, “big data” analytics, and visualization. However, the work will involve projects in other areas of the power system. Knowledge of databases, data structures, computer networking is desirable as well as an aptitude to apply engineering analysis to solve problems.

Special Notes:

Candidate will work in a hybrid work arrangement reporting in-person/in-office at least 3 days per week.

Educational Requirements:

· Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE) required

· Specialization in Power Systems desired

· Training in/experience with computer programming (Python, C#, SQL) desired

· Training in/experience with data science desired
