Recore Electrical Contractors, Inc. is a multi-state licensed, employee-owned, Electrical Services contractor, based just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. As one of the largest electrical contractors in the Charlotte Metro Area, we at Recore pride ourselves on providing the highest level of service possible.
The career opportunity for you:
Recore Electrical Contractors Life Safety Division is seeking a detail-oriented AutoCAD Drafter with experience in electrical and fire alarm systems to produce accurate, code-compliant drawings for industrial and/or commercial projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to develop layouts, schematics, and installation drawings in accordance with NFPA and local codes.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and revise AutoCAD drawings for fire alarm and low-voltage electrical systems
Develop system layouts including:
Fire alarm devices (smoke detectors, pull stations, horns/strobes, panels)
Conduit routing and wiring diagrams
Riser diagrams and single-line diagrams
Interpret engineering designs, specifications, and markups
Ensure drawings comply with NFPA 72, NEC, and local AHJ requirements
Coordinate drawings with architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans
Update drawings based on field conditions, redlines, and change orders
Maintain organized drawing files and documentation
Assist with submittal drawings and as-built documentation
Communicate effectively with project managers and engineers to resolve design issues
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting required; 3D a plus)
Experience drafting fire alarm systems and/or low-voltage electrical systems
Working knowledge of NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm Code) and NEC
Ability to read and interpret construction and electrical plans
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good time management and ability to meet project deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in fire alarm or electrical drafting
Experience with commercial, or industrial projects
Familiarity with submittal processes and AHJ requirements
Knowledge of fire alarm manufacturers (e.g., Edwards, Simplex, Siemens, Honeywell)
Experience with Revit or BIM (preferred but not required)
Education:
Associate degree or technical certificate in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field (preferred)
Work Environment:
Office and/or hybrid environment
Occasional site visits may be required
