Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful planning, execution, and closeout of complex electrical construction projects within the data center market. Working closely with Project Managers, field leadership, owners, general contractors, and subcontractors, the APM assists in managing schedules, budgets, procurement, documentation, and project communication to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented construction professional looking to develop project management expertise within the rapidly growing mission-critical/data center industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with all phases of electrical construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.
- Coordinate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and meeting minutes.
- Monitor project schedules and support project teams in maintaining milestone commitments.
- Track project costs, labor productivity, and material procurement activities.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of electrical equipment and materials.
- Support forecasting efforts, budget updates, and monthly project reporting.
- Attend project meetings with owners, general contractors, engineers, and field teams.
- Coordinate with field supervision to identify and resolve project issues impacting schedule, safety, or quality.
- Assist with contract administration and review project specifications and drawings.
- Help manage commissioning activities and project closeout documentation.
- Ensure adherence to company safety standards and client requirements.
- Maintain accurate project records and support continuous communication among project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
- 1-5 years of experience in construction project coordination, project engineering, or assistant project management.
- Experience with electrical construction projects preferred.
- Data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large commercial construction experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar project management software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menomonee Falls, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 - $55.00/hr.
