About this role:

We are looking for a Plumbing Apprentice to join our team and gain hands-on experience in the plumbing trade. In this role, you will learn and become proficient with the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in residential settings. Your tasks will include learning to handle tools, assist with troubleshooting issues, and follow safety and code compliance procedures. You will receive training on various plumbing techniques and gain valuable knowledge to advance your career in plumbing. Strong willingness to learn, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential for success in this role.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Locating and identifying leaks
  • Repairing or replacing pipes and components
  • Determining the appropriate tools and equipment for each job
  • Assisting in preparing cost estimates for clients
  • Supporting the plumber to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local plumbing codes
  • Cleaning the job site after work is completed
  • Addressing client queries
  • Following the plumber's orders and instructions
  • Additional duties as assigned.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Licensing: Ability to obtain any required apprentice plumbing licenses or permits based on local or state regulations.
  • Physical Ability: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy materials, working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods. Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling tools and equipment.
  • Basic Math Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including measurements and conversions, to assist with accurate installations.
  • Willingness to Learn: Strong desire to develop skills and knowledge in the plumbing trade, with the ability to follow instructions and learn from experienced plumbers.
  • Work Ethic: Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to maintaining a regular work schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all tasks.
  • Safety Awareness: Basic understanding of workplace safety and a commitment to following safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers.
  • Team Player: Willingness to assist others, take direction, and work as part of a team to complete plumbing projects.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license with reliable transportation to job sites and 3 years of driving experience
  • Work Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime, as needed.

The physical requirements of this job include:

  • Lifting 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Climbing ladders, accessing attics, navigating tight spaces, driving, entering crawlspaces, pushing, carrying, pulling, using hand tools, and performing fine detail work.
  • Ability to drive.
  • Working in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, attics, crawlspaces.
  • Ability to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.
  • Use hands to handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. 
  • Regularly stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch.
  • The work requires regular exposure to extreme temperatures both indoors and outdoors, such as heat or cold, and adverse weather conditions such as wind, rain, ice or snow.
