Job Overview:

The Service Technician is a skilled professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks:

  • Employee has the ability to demonstrate the following competencies.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Completes a weekly SIS (Short Interval Schedule) with a minimum of 2 weeks forecasted
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates work and activities with Project management team, GC, owner reps, crew members and other trades
  • Forecasts Training and order manpower, material, tool & equipment needs well in advance to ensure that the proper tools/equipment, materials, information, manpower & other requirements are on the project when needed
  • Proceeds with work via written and verbal instructions, plans, drawings & specifications
  • Coordinates and manages equipment rentals
  • Identifies, schedules and facilitates all jobsite related inspections
  • Demonstrates strong expertise in all aspects of trade related materials, components, equipment, systems, methods of installation, safety procedures, safe work practices, calculations, blueprint and drawing interpretation & troubleshooting
  • Proficient at the interpretation and application of electrical blueprints, internal shop drawings and details
  • Proficient at the interpretation and application of architectural, civil, structural, plumbing and utility blueprints
  • Possesses leadership qualities to effectively direct a crew of 2
  • Meets or exceeds project schedules, productivity standards & monetary budgets
  • Instructs employees assigned to him/her in the correct operation of tools and equipment, safe work practices, electrical principles and applicable NEC
  • Evaluates employees under his/her supervision in a timely manner
  • Documents and reports all disciplinary issues to HR and implements any actions or procedures as instructed by HR or supervisor
  • Works with tools alongside crew when required or as directed
  • Ability to ensure a safe workplace, employee compliance with safety and health policy and reduce exposure to liability risks such as theft or damage
  • Embody Rex Moore's purpose, vision, mission, and values in daily actions, interactions, leading by example and influence others to do the same
  • Provides a level of guidance and mentorship to all lower-level employees
  • Operates any hand and power tools and equipment necessary to perform all trade associated assignments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction scheduling
  • Demonstrates effective supervision and management, including laying out and scheduling work for all employees under his/her jurisdiction
  • Completes, in an accurate & timely manner, administrative requirements and documentation such as time sheets, labor coding, daily logs, material and tool requisitions, man loading schedules, incident/injury reports & employee notifications (when and if applicable)
  • Monitors labor productivity, quality control and direct the crew in such a manner so as to meet project schedules and production quotas
  • (Avoids hot work at all necessary costs by at times) Performs Energized Electrical Work (EEW) for B permit procedures up to 480 volts if required for troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Performs metering and testing on systems not exceeding 480 volts following live-work policies & procedures using common meters and test instruments
  • Directs and performs work within all applicable code standards (NEC, CEC, Title 24, Utility standards, City standards, etc.)
  • Must be part of the on-call rotation roster and follow the process for dispatch
  • Forecasts and identifies training and development needs for all lower-level employees with a timely manner

Compensation: 

Rex Moore pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employee’s knowledge, experience and skill level.  

Work environment: 
Active commercial jobsite under construction performing the following:  

Regularly exposed to environmental conditions inside and outside:  inclement weather, cold, heat, and humidity. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.  Frequently exposed to vibrations, moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, machines, dust and chemicals.  May be required to function in crawl spaces, shafts, man holes, small enclosed rooms, and other areas of close proximity.  Occasionally required to work on elevated surfaces including on ladders and lifts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Holds a current General Electrical certification through the state
  • At least 5-10 years of related experience
     

Physical Requirements:  

  • Occasionally required to sit in a chair.

  • Regularly required to talk in order to communicate detailed, important, and accurate instructions to internal and external customers.

  • Occasionally required to crouching, squatting, stooping, kneeling

  • Occasionally required to reach forward, grab, grasp, pinching, handle material and tools using upper extremities 
  • Occasionally required to perform repetitive motion tasks such as typing on a computer keyboard and writing
  • Occasionally required to pull or push using force
  • Occasionally required to lift objects from low to high positions in horizontal to vertical motions
  • Frequently required to lift objects weighing up to 25lbs
  • Occasionally required to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs with assistance
  • Frequently required to talk, express or exchange detailed, important information by means of verbal communication.
  • Constantly required to hear sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to hear detailed information and distinguish sounds to avoid hazards.
  • Required to have near and far sited visual acuity with or without correction.  Must be able to inspect small parts, operating tools, using measurement devices and/or assembly or fabrication parts.  Must also be able to visually identify and read posted signs, instructions, and identify possible hazards
  • Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work.
