Job description

Electrical Controls Engineer Full-Time | Kansas City, MO Travel: Up to 50% (including occasional extended trips)

Position Overview Seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to support turnkey control system projects. This role involves collaborating with electrical engineers, drafters, mechanical engineering, field teams, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality, fully integrated control systems that meet customer specifications. Ideal for a hands-on engineer who can work independently, lead technical activities, and support projects from design through startup.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and interpret customer requirements, design criteria, and functional specifications.

  • Develop detailed electrical control system designs, including hardware, software, and configuration documentation.

  • Produce AutoCAD drawings, PLC code, system plans, and operational data.

  • Coordinate material purchasing for fabrication and installation.

  • Review and oversee subcontractor work related to control design and field wiring.

  • Assist in creating project schedules for the electrical scope of work.

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering to ensure full system compatibility.

  • Travel to job sites for coordination meetings, installation support, debugging, startup, and standby.

  • Support shop operations, equipment testing, and troubleshooting as needed.

  • Maintain and archive project files, drawings, and software upon project completion.

  • Uphold internal standards, documentation requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and professionalism.

  • Perform additional duties as required to support successful project execution.

Qualifications
