Job description

KJ Electric is seeking a mechanically inclined individual to join our electric motor repair shop. Experience repairing, machining, or rewinding AC and DC motors is preferred; however, we are willing to train the right candidate who has strong mechanical abilities and a desire to learn.

Machining and motor-winding experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and identify electric motor problems and failures
  • Gather, measure, and accurately record inspection and repair data
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble AC and DC motors
  • Repair and rewind motors to applicable OEM specifications
  • Determine machining dimensions, tolerances, setup requirements, and sequences of operation
  • Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining equipment
  • Select, align, and secure fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials
  • Fabricate or repair components according to established quality standards
  • Safely use hand tools, meters, testing equipment, cranes, and other repair-shop equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality-control standards

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in mechanical repair, machining, motor repair, or a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of AC and DC electric motors is a plus
  • Motor-winding experience is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Good analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and accurately use measuring instruments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial repair-shop environment

Training will be provided for a dependable, mechanically inclined candidate who is interested in developing a career in electric motor repair.
