Electric power generation is the process of producing electricity by converting various forms of energy, such as mechanical, thermal, or chemical energy, into electrical energy. This is typically accomplished in power plants using generators driven by steam turbines, gas turbines, hydro turbines, or other means. The generated electricity is then transmitted through power lines to homes, businesses, and industries for use. The methods of power generation can include fossil fuels, nuclear power, and renewable sources like wind, solar, and hydroelectric energy.
