Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by verifying patient identity, explaining exams, assisting with changing, and ensuring patients are ready for diagnostic testing.
  • Safely transport patients throughout the hospital and assist with positioning, transfers, and movement of medical equipment during imaging procedures.
  • Support technologists by preparing exam rooms, cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, and assisting with room turnover between patients.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality standards.
  • Monitor inventory, restock supplies, process purchase orders, and assist with basic clerical duties, specimen transport, and communication as needed.
  • Provide courteous, patient-centered service while working collaboratively with technologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in a biological, chemical, or medical laboratory, clinic, or healthcare setting that provided knowledge of anatomy, clinical procedures, or patient care. Qualifying education or nursing coursework may substitute for experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification is required within six (6) months of employment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, follow verbal and written instructions, provide compassionate patient care, and work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Full Performance:

In addition to the entry-level qualifications:

  • One (1) year of experience in a hospital or similar healthcare facility assisting licensed imaging technologists with patient preparation, transport, positioning, and other imaging support duties.
  • Working knowledge of one or more imaging modalities, including radiography, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, angiography, or echocardiography.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently prepare patients for imaging procedures, assist technologists during examinations, maintain imaging work areas, prioritize patient flow, and provide safe, efficient support in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
