The Project Engineer position offers an exciting opportunity to develop project schedules and processes for cutting-edge overhead transmission projects. The Project Engineer will collaborate with functional leads and project managers, engaging in both office and fieldwork to identify critical and near-critical paths. This role offers ample learning opportunities, enabling you to gain hands-on experience and identify trends that keep the project team on track.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control project expenditures, ensuring accurate recording of supplier, vendor, and subcontractor tickets, invoices, and claims.
  • Provide planning and cost control support for all projects, including variation reporting, contract progress monitoring, and customer billing preparation.
  • Assist with preconstruction tasks, including mark-out requests, job kick-offs, utility work packages, and permitting.
  • Capture and record data, including timesheets, crew locations, billing, as-built records, and materials.
  • Manage and schedule project activities, ensuring timely execution and monitoring.
  • Utilize productive reports from the project management system (View Point) for effective project implementation.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to resolve issues and ensure project completion.
  • Report monthly on project costs to ensure expenditures align with the project budget.
  • Engage in both office and fieldwork, providing hands-on support for underground transmission projects.
  • Participate in dynamic project kick-offs and in the development of utility work packages.
  • Attend and contribute to customer meetings, gaining exposure to client interactions and project negotiations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in the Construction or Utility industries.
  • Proficient in MS Office for the purposes of project documentation and reporting.
  • Extensive expertise in Excel, data manipulation, and spreadsheet design to effectively communicate results.
  • Must be proactive and willing to take on additional responsibilities without being asked.
  • A collaborative team member capable of working independently.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and cost tracking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment & Hazards

  • Prolonged periods of sedentary work.
  • Physical mobility and heavy machinery, uneven terrain, and adverse weather conditions, with potential exposure to extreme heat, cold, rain, or high winds.
  • Electrical hazards, such as energized power lines or equipment.
  • Cave-ins, falling objects, and dust laden with particulates.

Special Physical Demands

  • Prolonged standing and walking long distances around construction sites with uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to climb ladders or scaffolds.
  • A combination of moderate lifting and frequent movement.
  • Must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Contact Group

  • Significant contact with HR leadership and staff, as well as operations and project management personnel across Elecnor Hawkeye LLC.
  • Regular contact with Payroll/Finance, Safety, Fleet, IT, Talent Acquisition, Legal/Compliance, and Labor Relations (as applicable).
  • Frequent contact with external parties, including candidates, benefit administrators, background and screening vendors, staffing agencies, training providers, union representatives, third‐party administrators, and regulatory bodies, as directed.
