Elasticsearch Remote information

What is an Elasticsearch remote?

An Elasticsearch Remote job is a position where professionals work with Elasticsearch, a powerful search and analytics engine, from a remote location. These roles typically involve tasks such as optimizing search performance, managing Elasticsearch clusters, and integrating Elasticsearch with various applications. Remote Elasticsearch professionals can work as developers, engineers, or administrators, ensuring efficient indexing, querying, and data management. Companies hire remote Elasticsearch experts to maintain and scale their search infrastructure without requiring on-site presence. This type of job offers flexibility while allowing specialists to contribute to large-scale data and search projects.

What does an Elasticsearch remote do?

As a remote Elasticsearch specialist, your daily tasks often include configuring and managing Elasticsearch clusters, monitoring performance, optimizing queries, and troubleshooting data issues. You will also work with development and DevOps teams to implement new features and ensure the reliability and scalability of search infrastructure. Regular collaboration via chat, video meetings, and project management tools is common, and you may participate in peer code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions. Staying up to date with the latest Elasticsearch developments and documenting best practices are also important aspects of the role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed for an Elasticsearch remote?

To thrive as an Elasticsearch Remote professional, you need strong experience with Elasticsearch, data indexing, distributed systems, and query optimization, typically supported by a background in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as Kibana, Logstash, Beats, as well as cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and relevant certifications like Elastic Certified Engineer are often required. Excellent problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and effective remote communication are crucial for success in a distributed work environment. These competencies ensure that you can build, maintain, and improve scalable search solutions while collaborating efficiently across remote teams.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer-Network Protocols and Devices (REMOTE) for a full time and direct hire role for one of our amazing partners in the United States. This role is remote, but you MUST be living in the United States and be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder. This role does NOT offer sponsorship, it's NOT a consulting role, and we do NOT work with 3rd parties!

Overview

You will work on the Agile/Scrum SaaS Solutions Engineering team in an AWS cloud-native environment. You will contribute to an AWS cloud-based central authentication platform that is used around the world to securely connect guests and residents at hotels and multi-family residences to Wifi internet.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain software systems that interact with or control network infrastructure.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot MikroTik RouterOS environments, including scripting, APIs, and policy enforcement.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, security-hardened containerized services optimized for resource-constrained environments and modern Linux-based infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with other developer, product manager and UX team members to turn user stories into performant, scalable capabilities, features, services, and applications.
  • Work on advanced network protocol integration that is focused on RADIUS, 802.1X, and related AAA technologies.
  • Develop automation tools and network services that streamline configuration, authentication, and device lifecycle management.
  • Partner with team members across functions to solve architectural and code-design challenges.
  • Stay informed about service design and code best practices and champion decisions that will scale and make a difference long term.
  • Work within Agile methodology with two-week sprints.
  • Identify and incorporate security requirements in the software development lifecycle process.
  • Participate in security reviews as needed to facilitate technical discovery.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team-level knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Help with an on-call rotation

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience that were ideally in network-focused roles.
  • Experience working with MikroTik devices, RouterOS scripting, API integration, and configuration automation.
  • Deep understanding of RADIUS, AAA workflows, 802.1X, EAP methods, and certificate-based authentication.
  • Solid understanding of network fundamentals like routing, switching, VLANs, firewalling, DHCP, DNS, VPNs, etc.
  • Familiar with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code (CloudFormation preferred).
  • Experience with RESTful API design and development.
  • Experience in complex AWS systems with an emphasis on Serverless (i.e. not using servers and containers to solve all problems).
  • Experience building scalable cloud services
  • Linux knowledge and comfort in CLI-driven environments is preferred.
  • Proven experience shipping product as part of an Agile team.
  • Strong desire to help a company scale existing cloud-based services while also being a significant contributor to the development of new products.
  • It's a bonus if you've worked in a variety of languages and frameworks, from legacy .NET, C# and SQL to more modern Linux, Python and Elasticsearch

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status. You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
