Job Description / Essential Elements:
EL RANCHO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
CAFETERIA HELPER I
DEFINITION
Under direct supervision, to assist in preparing and serving a wide variety of foods; to clean utensils, dishes, and equipment; and to do related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Assist in the preparation of foods to a minor extent including mixing salads, making dressings and sauces; scrapes, stacks, and moves dishes; washes dishes, utensils, and equipment; places food on counter or in steam tables; operates and cleans equipment such as electric mixer, dishwashing machine and food choppers and slicers; disposes of waste; washed woodwork, tables, and counters; serves at steam tables; works at banquets and special meals; acts as cashier; and does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Basic methods of preparing and serving foods; use and care of common kitchen utensils and equipment; and cleaning methods appropriate for equipment and surroundings in a food preparation area.
Ability to:
Learn to operate cafeteria equipment; follow oral and written directions; learn to prepare foods and to perform related duties of the position; count money and make change; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other.

Location: El Rancho High School
Hours: 10:30 a.m. -to 2:00 p.m. (3.5 hours per day)
Steps 8 through 12 are longevity steps and will not be applied until requirements have been met.
Priority will be given in order of transfer, then promotion.
