Job description

LCAP K-5 INTERVENTION LITERACY SPECIALIST
THE POSITION
Under the guidance of Educational Support Services and the general supervision of the site Principal, provide a supplemental instructional program to assist at-risk and English learners in attaining proficiency in literacy.
RESPONSIBLE TO:
  • Educational Support Services Director
  • Principal
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive:
  • Develop Supplemental Program Scope and Sequence as a team with the District.
  • Deliver strategic and targeted direct instruction to at-risk students.
  • Assist with data analysis and the resulting instructional planning.
  • Facilitate frequent progress monitoring of students at all sites.
  • Participate in the development, administration, scoring, and on-line reporting of assessments.
  • Provide various forms of support and training related to job duties.
  • Provide supplemental reading instruction for students who are at risk in Grades K-5, prioritizing instruction by need and EL learners.
  • Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities.
  • Participate in all job related activities such as faculty meetings, in-services, committees, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
  • Valid California Teaching Credential or license authorizing service in grade levels and areas assigned.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of ECI and District focused components in lessons.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Common Core Standards and instructional shifts of instruction.
  • Three or more years of full time teaching experience.
  • Significant education and experience in the instruction of reading strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current research in effective reading practices.
  • Preferred training and background may include Reading Specialist Certificate/Credential, Reading Recovery training and/or other related literacy training, and Bilingual training.
WORK YEAR: 185 Days
SALARY: Certificated Salary Schedule "A"
