ABOUT THE ROLE

The EHS Specialist position works with the EHSS Department management to assist in directing and coordinating all safety and health related activities for Ox Engineered Products. The position will work directly with the Regional EHS Manager in the development and implementation ofย corporate EHS programs to prevent occupational injury/illness losses and minimize futureย liabilities through evaluating risks and establishing appropriate loss control/reduction activities.ย This role requires a strong presence on the production floor, working closely with the operationsย team and supervisors to identify hazards in real time, reinforce safe behaviors, and ensure EHSย practices are effectively integrated into daily operations.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Administer comprehensive OSHA and DEQ Compliance Programs through Managementย Leadership & Teammate Involvement, Job Hazard Analysis, Hazard Prevention and Control,ย and Environmental Health and Safety Training
  • Model behaviors consistent with a target of zero incidents.
  • Engage, communicate, and influence others across the business to develop a culture of safetyย excellence, an engaged workforce, and continuous improvement.
  • Sustain Safety Committee Practices
  • Monitor all Environmental Health and Safety policies, practices and processes to determineย efficiency and effectiveness and recommend improvements to achieve desired results.
  • Drive the operational implementation of Health and Safety strategies and initiatives in a wayย that builds a culture of compliance, performance and reputation and supports the Businessย Unit goals. (Use of ICare, Isite, EHSInsights, ETC)
  • Maintain an effective system for identifying, reporting, investigating, tracking, and trendingย incidents and taking action to ensure appropriate countermeasures are implemented.
  • Implement Health and Safety audit processes to assess regulatory compliance, identifyย deficiencies and ensure collaboration with operating facilities to proactively resolve gaps andย identify action plans.
  • Serve as Health and Safety Subject Matter Expert and coach others.
  • Provides guidance on regulatory/legislative matters (OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, EPA) andย oversee government compliance inspections and activities.
  • Develop local written programs, procedures and policies to ensure compliance.
  • Development and oversight of comprehensive Industrial Hygiene monitoring program.
  • Ensure implementation of the people security program and associated activities.
  • Coordinate with Communication and Legal departments regarding stakeholder and publicย messaging.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies inย all work environments and areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education:ย Bachelor's/University Degree. Master's degree preferred
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, Environmental Science,ย Occupational Health or Related Technical Discipline
Required Work Experience: At least 4 years of operational Environmental Health and Safety experience.

  • Environmental Permitting Management (Stormwater, Air, Waste Water)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills and the ability to work in an open and consultativeย manner with others.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, changing environment, demonstrating initiative andย self-motivation.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task in the face of many responsibilities/duties
  • Demonstrates sound business judgment and the ability to grasp the complexities of a largeย business organization and the application of legal and regulatory requirements to theย organization.
  • Ability to comprehend law and regulation and judicial and regulatory interpretations of lawย and regulation, with the advice of company counsel, and to develop appropriate policiesย relative to the business.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills with ability to be precise and direct inย communicating to larger and smaller groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal (formal and informal) communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively and work in a cooperative manner with a range of individuals atย all levels and within all functions and to effectively build strong teams.
  • Effective and demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • High energy level and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • H&S related licenses, certifications and/or membership in EHS&S professional associationsย desired. ASP/CSP preferred.
  • Experience managing others in multiple geographies preferred.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
