Senior Industrial Hygienist (Full-Time) – San Diego, CA


Occupational Services, Inc. (OSI) is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Hygienist to join our growing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) consulting team in San Diego, California. This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned industrial hygiene professional who enjoys both technical project work and mentoring staff. The successful candidate will oversee and support Industrial Hygiene operations while serving as a senior technical resource for clients and project teams.

Position Summary

The Senior Industrial Hygienist will lead industrial hygiene projects, provide technical oversight, manage client relationships, and supervise Industrial Hygienists. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to independently manage multiple client engagements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform industrial hygiene exposure assessments and monitoring programs
  • Design sampling strategies and interpret exposure monitoring data
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments
  • Serve as a senior EHS consultant for biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, laboratory, and manufacturing clients
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate occupational health and safety programs
  • Perform regulatory compliance audits and assessments
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and regulatory documentation
  • Serve as a liaison during City, County, State, and Federal regulatory inspections
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Industrial Hygienists
  • Review technical reports and deliverables for quality and accuracy
  • Support business development activities and client retention efforts
  • Assist with proposal preparation and project scoping
  • Travel to client sites as required


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, or a related scientific discipline
  • 8–12+ years of industrial hygiene and EHS consulting experience
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and applicable environmental and safety regulations
  • Experience managing projects and client relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel


Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential strongly preferred
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
  • Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, laboratory, or manufacturing environments
  • Additional certifications such as CSP, CHMM, or related credentials
