What is the Opportunity?

The EHS Manager, Digital Solutions is responsible for leading the development, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of Aecon's Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) digital solutions portfolio. This role ensures digital platforms effectively support EHS performance, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Reporting to the Director, EHS Systems & Governance, the position leads strategic initiatives involving digital transformation, analytics, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies. The Manager works closely with EHS, Operations, IT, and external technology partners to identify innovative solutions, improve business processes, and advance Aecon's EHS digital strategy.

What You'll Do Here

Digital Solutions Leadership

  • Lead the management and strategic evolution of Aecon's EHS digital solutions portfolio, including platforms such as Cority, SiteDocs, BIS Safety, Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and future enterprise solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year digital solutions roadmap aligned with corporate EHS objectives and business priorities.
  • Ensure digital solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with governance requirements.

Project & Program Management

  • Lead complex digital transformation initiatives from concept through deployment and adoption.
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects involving system implementation, enhancement, integration, and process modernization.
  • Establish project governance, resource planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication processes.
  • Ensure successful delivery of projects through structured project management and change management methodologies.

Data, Analytics & Business Intelligence

  • Advance enterprise EHS reporting, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities.
  • Support development of integrated data platforms and modern analytics solutions that improve accessibility, accuracy, and usability of EHS information.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists to establish data governance standards and improve data quality across systems.

AI, Automation & Innovation

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies that improve EHS performance, productivity, and user experience.
  • Lead the exploration and deployment of artificial intelligence, generative AI, automation, and advanced analytics solutions to streamline workflows, reduce administrative burden, and support decision-making.
  • Champion innovative approaches to field data collection, digital inspections, incident management, audits, training, and reporting.
  • Monitor industry trends, technology developments, and best practices to continuously enhance Aecon's EHS technology ecosystem.
  • Assess and pilot alternative platforms and technology solutions that may provide strategic advantages, operational efficiencies, or improved user adoption.

Systems Integration & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead integration activities across EHS and enterprise platforms using APIs, workflow automation, and data connectivity solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate duplicate processes, improve system usability, and increase automation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance data flow, reporting capabilities, and business processes.

Leadership, Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with EHS, Operations, Information Technology, Procurement, Human Resources, and other corporate functions to ensure digital solutions meet business requirements and deliver measurable value.
  • Act as the primary relationship manager for strategic EHS technology vendors, consultants, and implementation partners.
  • Lead vendor engagement throughout the solution lifecycle, including needs assessment, evaluation, procurement support, implementation, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to develop technology roadmaps, prioritize investments, and align digital initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, communication, and change management activities to promote adoption and maximize return on technology investments.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to EHS leadership on digital strategy, innovation opportunities, and emerging technologies.

Governance & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain governance processes for solution development, enhancement requests, configuration management, and change control.
  • Support alignment of digital solutions with Aecon's EHS Management System (Redbook), APEX program requirements, and corporate governance processes.
  • Ensure systems and processes support regulatory reporting, compliance obligations, and audit requirements.

What You Bring to The Team

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7-10+ years of experience leading digital solutions, enterprise systems, analytics, or technology programs.
  • Experience managing complex system portfolios and multi-disciplinary technology projects.
  • Demonstrated success implementing digital transformation initiatives and driving organizational adoption.
  • Experience with business intelligence, analytics, reporting platforms, and enterprise data solutions.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing new technologies, automation, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Exposure to EHS systems, risk management processes, or regulated environments is considered a strong asset.

The expected pay range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000 per year

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
