The ideal candidate will work closely with senior leadership, clinicians, operational stakeholders, technical teams, and government clients to develop and execute communications that educate and engage Veterans, VA providers, and employees throughout the EHR modernization process.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop, edit, and maintain federal healthcare policy documentation in alignment with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) directive formats, federal writing standards, and established governance approval processes

  • Produce high-quality policy, strategy, and workforce planning documents that successfully support federal review, coordination, and approval activities
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, clarity, and professional presentation across high-visibility deliverables through comprehensive editing and quality assurance reviews
  • Manage document version control, review cycles, and artifact traceability across multiple concurrent workstreams and Program Increments (PIs)
  • Coordinate document updates and stakeholder feedback incorporation to maintain alignment with evolving program requirements and governance decisions
  • Prepare and format workforce modernization materials for publication in accordance with VA Informatics Compass (VIC) content standards, publishing requirements, and accessibility guidelines
  • Maintain document repositories and supporting records to ensure compliance with federal documentation, records management, and audit readiness expectations
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, Public Health, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in consulting, strategic communications, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, or healthcare communications
  • Experience supporting complex federal government initiatives, preferably within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and VHA
  • Experience with AP Style, Section 508 compliance, and federal plain language requirements
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and executive communications skills
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Electronic Health Record modernization, health IT modernization, clinical informatics, or enterprise transformation initiatives
  • Familiarity with healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and health IT systems
  • Experience with SharePoint content management, communications analytics, and enterprise collaboration tools
