Role Overview
The Machinist I, Field Outage Services, is an entry-level role supporting the repair and restoration of steam and gas turbine components. This position involves operating CNC, manual, and portable machining equipment in both shop and field environments. The role requires the ability to interpret technical drawings and perform machining operations to meet specification requirements. Frequent travel is required in support of outage activities.
Key Responsabilities
  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Set up and operate CNC, manual, and portable machining equipment
  • Perform machining operations, including lathes, milling, boring, and grinding
  • Measure and inspect components to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify operational issues
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning
  • Support tooling, materials, and inventory processes
  • Travel to customer sites as required (approximately 70%)
  • Support work activities in industrial and nuclear plant environments as required
  • Follow all safety procedures and comply with EH&S standards

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience in machining or field service
  • Basic knowledge of machining practices and equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Basic math skills for machining calculations
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, documentation)
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Ability to travel up to 70% domestically
